Varmakelda (Warm Spring Festival)
One of the oldest regional festivals takes place in Fuglafjørður and is named after the nearby warm spring. In addition to various cultural activities, there is also every second year the traditional rowing competition with Faroese wooden boats.
In addition, the boat museum, the car museum, the old fisherman’s cottage and the old shop are open for visitors. There are two art exhibitions as well as an area with fun activities.
This year’s festival also features four garden concerts in four different gardens, a free hike to the Blue Mountains, towering 731m above Fuglafjørður, a free bus for the traditional visit to the Warm Spring where there will be a bonfire, singing and a speech, as well as the traditional town festival dance and live music in different places. The town is home to a traditional local restaurant and a new café which will serve soup and Faroese home dishes, and there will also be a food tent.
This charming, cosy town usually attracts many visitors also for the town festival as there is plenty to see and do. For a more detailed programme, visit the facebook page VisitFuglafjørður – Kunningarstovan í Fuglafirði.
