Lea Kampmann - Release Concert (FO)

In September, Lea Kampmann will release her first album in Faroese: Seinferð

"It was a few days before Christmas Eve in 2022. The snow lay like a heavy blanket over Hoydalar. Teitur and I sat in the recording studio in Hjallinum at the old Sanatorium and watched the snowflakes settle on the windows, roofs, and branches around us. I was on medical leave from the conservatory in Copenhagen due to stress, and I was dizzy and exhausted all the time, even when lying in bed. But on that December day, Teitur and I set out to create an album that was a rebellion against the speed that rules today. An internal rebellion against the idea that one must run as fast as others, even if it doesn't feel right. I knew that the only thing that would make me healthy was to allow myself to live, write, and sing at my own pace. To dare to let the walls I had built around me fall and to dare to be myself, in the language I said "I love you" for the first time.”

“Most of the songs on the album revolve around love. Lost love, growing love, and memories of a love that once was. The songs were written in collaboration with Teitur Lassen, who also produced the album. Everything on the album is played and sung in whispers, on acoustic guitars, strings, and woodwinds. Recording and creating this album felt like lying inside a Spanish guitar, far away from screens and noise.”

At the album release concert, Lea invites musicians Sara, Lukas, and Aske to join her in the Faroe Islands to perform with her. Lea also invites a string trio on stage. Lea will bring the stage design by stage manager Ellen Ahnefeldt to decorate the stage in the beautiful Nordic House.

At the concert, it's possible to buy the album on vinyl. You can also get a booklet that Lea wrote and compiled with Kirstin Helgadóttir, with texts, reflections, drawings, and photos. URT has created a special tea for the Seinferð album, using herbs she collected in the Faroese nature. This tea will be served before the concert, and it will be possible to buy the Seinferð tea to take home.
