In 2010, MonkeyRat blasted onto the Faroese and Danish music scene.
MonkeyRat, led by frontwoman, vocalist/songwriter Anna Iachino (CA), is a genre-bending international band with award-winning musicians: Arnold Ludvig (FO) on bass/composer, Alain Apaloo (TG) on guitar, and Jens Stoklund (DK) on drums. In 2010, MonkeyRat blasted onto the Faroese and Danish music scene with their hit debut album, “Fuck The Jante Law,” followed by their 2nd album, “Sunshine,” performing live on DR1 radio. In 2016, MonkeyRat released a funky EP and single with The Hentze Horns performing in DK and Greenland live on KNR TV.
In 2018, MonkeyRat released their 1st gospel/hip-hop hit single with Debbie Cameron, Deborah Herbert, Joanita Zachariassen and toured around the Faroes. In 2020, they released two singles, Good Morning Reykjavík, co-composed by Anna, where MonkeyRat performed in Iceland and received radio airplay on RUV radio, followed by ” U Gotta Love Being U ft. Alain Apaloo”; Anna’s first co-written-song-with-Beinir-and-Hans-Andrias-Jacobsen.
In 2022, Anna graduated with a master’s in music at Iceland University of the Arts and released The Child ft. Anna Sofía Skoradal and “Isolation”, a composition and poem by Anna, received critical acclaim. In 2024, MonkeyRat released 3 singles: “Niels Uni Dam,” a funky smash hit single & a funny YouTube video, “What A Crazy World”, a psychedelic rock sound of 1969, with two spectacular guitar solos by virtuoso Alain Apaloo; he performed with Kurt Rosenwinkel and Eric Clapton at Eric Clapton’s 2023 Crossroad Guitar Festival. And “Where’s The Peace ft. Ayi Solomon” expresses African and Western music written together for PEACE – World meets Funk and Punk – an African funky beat for the heart and feet.
