After arrival, we will have a guided tour to the small village of Gjógv (“gorge”), which attracts many visitors, both foreigners and locals, who are seduced by its romantic tranquillity. Gjógv is best known for its picturesque scenery dotted with multi-coloured old houses built around its vital natural harbour – a harbour, which lies protected in the gorge itself. The harbour is carved by the sea and was the lifeline of the village before the arrival of modern roads. On the way East, we pass the imposing summits of Slættaratindur (882m) and Gráfelli (857m), heading for a lunch in charming Skótahúsið in Runavik. Hereafter the delegates can enjoy a walk to the lake of Toftavatn, followed by a unique opportunity to visit the company Bakkafrost, which is a leading producer of top quality salmon from the Faroe Islands, and one of the world’s most vertically integrated salmon farming companies. Check-in at Hotel Føroyar, situated on the hillside of Tórshavn.
One-day meeting in the conference and banqueting hall of Hotel Føroyar, situated on the hillside over Tórshavn and an overwhelming view, which provides impression and inspiration for its visitors. In the evening a tasty dinner will be served at the hotel’s restaurant, Gras.
Before leaving the Faroes, we take a short guided sightseeing tour in the old part of Tórshavn city, where you will find the Parliamentary buildings on the peninsula Tinganes, dating all the way back from the Viking ages. The Parliament building, Skansapakkhusið, is still the government’s main building nowadays. The small main street on Tinganes is called Gongin, and is gateway to the oldest parts of the city. Many of the houses here were built in the 16th and 17th centuries and are still in use. Around noon we go heading off towards the airport.
