Kafé Breiðateig is a cozy café in the city of Sandur. Serves hot and cold beverages and light dishes such as sandwich and homemade cakes.
The old telephoneexchange used to be located on “Breiðateig”, and the house itself has a story and soul. The view is also quite something, the bus stops near by and the location is in the centre of Sandur.
In Kafe Breiðateig we focus on homecooked meals and fresh produce – we use as much local produce as possible.
Most of the furniture has a story to tell. The tables are made from old doors and driftwood, cups and other inventory is antique and the old painting on the wall has its own story. Kristina and the waitresses are happy to tell you more about it, when you visit.
On the menu you will find e.g. belgian wafles with icecream and chocolatesauce, a rhubarb trifle made from organic rhubarbs from Sandur, bananasplit, sandwiches and fishsoup with homebaked brad. The soup is based on fresh cod from a local fisherman.
You can also order e.g. a dinner with lamb, our popular brunch plate or food to go. Please come by to see the menu.
If you’re going for a hike and want to bring a packed lunch, we can prepare one for you.
We have free wifi for our customers.
We post on our social media pages about our opening hours during autumn and winter 2018-19. Opening hours are also posted on our page on Visit Sandoys webpage.
