The temperature of the water around the Faroes varies from four to 10 degrees Celsius, depending on the season. Visibility is best in the winter months when the water temperature is low. This is also the best time to take pictures while diving in the Faroe Islands. In the winter, visibility is about 30 metres, and the average temperature is 6 degrees. In the summer, plankton blooms sometimes degrade visibility, limiting opportunities for taking macro photos. Flash photography is not ideal during the summer as the particles flare up. However, visibility generally varies greatly; even during the summer, it can reach 15-20 metres.
