Hamferð in Listatsovan

Doom metal — slow, heavy, and solemn

Hamferð has held a distinctive position in Faroese music for nearly two decades. Built around a core of doom metal — slow, heavy, and solemn — a genre that originally emerged with bands such as Black Sabbath and Candlemass, Hamferð’s music has gradually evolved into something that is difficult to categorise or compare. Vast, heavy, and sombre soundscapes that acknowledge the darkness of Faroese nature and history; longing, loss, and grief. This is where Hamferð belongs, and from the stage they extend an invitation to the audience to embrace these challenging emotions.

Hamferð consists of Jenus í Trøðini (bass), Remi Kofoed Johannesen (drums), Esmar Joensen (keyboards), Eyðun í Geil Hvannastein (guitar and backing vocals), Theodor Kapnas (guitar), and Jón Aldará (vocals). The band has been active since 2008 and has performed across Europe, playing several hundred concerts. Over the years, they have released four full-length albums, the most recent — Men Guðs hond er sterk — released in 2024.

At Listastovan on May 17, the stage is set for a grand and immersive atmosphere with songs from all of the band’s releases. Joining Hamferð is the young and exciting band Tunghoyrt, promising a compelling and diverse evening of heavy music.
