October 18-20, the Nordic Championship in Olympic weightlifting will take place.

The Faroese Weightlifting Federation and Runavík Municipality are organizing the Nordic Championship 2024 in Olympic weightlifting from October 18-20 at Bylgjan by Løkin in Runavík.

Two years ago, the Faroe Islands succeeded in gaining membership in the Nordic Weightlifting Federation, NWF.

And they have quickly reached the Nordic weightlifting peaks: 2 NM golds, 1 NMJ gold, 22 DM golds, 8 silvers, 12 bronzes, 1 DMJ gold, 1 DMm gold, and 1 EMm silver. A total of 48 medals.

In April this year, news came that the Faroe Islands had also been granted membership in the International Weightlifting Federation, IWF.

Around 70 weightlifters, along with coaches, judges, and official representatives from all Nordic countries, about 100 people in total, will participate in the competition at Bylgjan in Runavík on the weekend of October 18-20, 2024.
