Northern Islands - Day Tour

Explore northern islands, dramatic cliffs, villages and Faroese stories

Join a small group adventure to the wild and dramatic northern islands of the Faroe Islands. This full-day road trip takes you through towering mountains, deep valleys, and remote villages rich in history and folklore.

Departing from Tórshavn, the journey begins through the impressive Eysturoyartunnilin, known for its unique underwater roundabout and striking art installation. Continuing north, a short stop in Leirvík introduces stories of Viking heritage, avalanches, and abandoned settlements.

The tour then heads through another subsea tunnel to Borðoy and the lively town of Klaksvík. As the country’s main fishing hub, Klaksvík offers insight into Faroese industry and culture, surrounded by steep mountains rising from the harbour.

From here, the journey continues to Kunoy, where a narrow tunnel leads to the peaceful village of Kunoy village. Set among green slopes and flowing streams, the village offers beautiful views towards Kalsoy, often called “James Bond Island.”

The final destination is Viðareiði on Viðoy, the northernmost village in the Faroes. Located in a wide valley surrounded by dramatic peaks, it offers spectacular views of the surrounding islands. Nearby, Villingadalsfjall and Enniberg rise steeply from the sea, forming some of the highest vertical cliffs in the world.

Along the way, your guide will share stories of Vikings, local heroes, and legends, bringing the landscapes to life. You’ll pass waterfalls, traditional churches, and locations used as film backdrops, all while experiencing the ever-changing light and weather that make the Faroe Islands so unique.

This small group tour offers a personal and unforgettable journey through some of the most remote and breathtaking parts of the Faroe Islands, perfect for those seeking nature, history, and authentic local stories.
