The New Year's concert 2025

Soloist Susanna Andersson, soprano (SE)

The Faroe Islands Symphony Orchestra and Choir, The Nordic House, and Kringvarp Føroya invite you once again to two grand New Year's concerts.

The New Year's Concert is the largest and most prestigious concert of the year, aimed at everyone in the Faroe Islands. With a bang and a burst of color, the symphony orchestra welcomes the New Year and wishes all of you music lovers a fantastic new year.

Soloist and Choir Susanna Andersson, soprano (SE)
This year’s soloist is none other than the Swedish soprano Susanna Andersson. Susanna was trained at the Guildhall School of Music in London and has played major roles in some of Europe’s largest opera houses over the years. As a student, she won first prize at the Kathleen Ferrier Awards, and she was also selected to sing on the Rising Stars world tour in 2006/2007.

Susanna has performed with countless symphony orchestras, including the Royal Danish Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra in Helsingborg, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. More information about Susanna Andersson.

The Symphony Orchestra Choir
The Symphony Orchestra Choir comprises 86 singers and plays a major role in the New Year's concert. Once again, the choir will leave its clear mark on these magnificent performances. We can already reveal that the choir will also participate in the spring concert in March 2025, where the choir and symphony orchestra will perform Verdi’s Requiem. For the occasion, the symphony orchestra will be joined by a guest conductor and four soloists of the highest caliber. The Faroe Islands Symphony Orchestra and Choir look forward to two fantastic evenings with you, and, as tradition dictates, we will offer a glass of wine and cake during the break—"same procedure as every year, James."

The orchestra will be conducted by Bernharður Wilkinson, and Tóra Vestergaard is responsible for the choir rehearsals leading up to the concerts.

Kringvarp Føroya will broadcast the concert live on television on Saturday, January 11th 2025.

Break: 30 min.
