'Ljósbrot' is a beautiful 'coming of age' film by Icelandic Rúnar Rúnarsson

The young woman Una loses her beloved Diddi under very tragic circumstances, but must bear the grief alone, because Diddi was engaged to another woman and the relationship with Una was therefore kept secret. The story takes place on a summer day, and although the film is only 82 minutes, the audience is taken through a series of strong emotions; everything from fear, despair and sadness to new hope, and Rúnarsson's style makes sure that the story is also funny, warm and poetic.

The beautiful picturesque Icelandic nature brings everything together.

International critics have a lot of praise for the film; "A touching portrait of sadness", "very conceptual", and "There is always something playful and poetic in Rúnarsson's films"

'Ljósbrot' was screened in the series Un Certain Regard at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
