Nominated for the Nordic Council Film Prize 2026

The film A Light That Never Goes Out (Jossain on valo joka ei sammu) is about the successful classical flutist Pauli (29), who returns to his small hometown after a breakdown. Reconnecting with old schoolmate Iiris, he is drawn into experimental music. Pauli, who has always sought perfection, is drawn to her chaotic energy and finds comfort in their sonic experiments.

This year, six Nordic films have been nominated for the prestigious Nordic Council Film Prize. The nominees will be screened at the Nordic House in the Faroe Islands during 7 - 9 October. The winner will be announced on 20 October.
Since 2002, the Nordic Council Film Prize has been awarded to a full-length feature film that has roots in Nordic culture and displays high standards of artistic quality.
