Living room concert with Steintór Rasmussen

Intimate concert by legendary songwriter Steintór Rasmussen

Steintór is a multi-talented artist and one of the Faroe Islands’ most prolific songwriters of the past 50 years. Virtually every Faroese person has sung songs from his diverse musical catalogue, both as a child and as an adult. His songs continue to be performed on many different occasions to this day.

He has written “Føroyar”, “Lívsmynd”, “Minnist tú gildið”, “Heimstaðið” and “Kanst tú siga farvæl”, which are among the best-known songs by Frændur—a band that remains active today.

He was also one of the people behind Kular Røtur, which introduced us to characters and performers such as Trølla Pætur, Omman, Brand Enni, Rakul Ró Steintórsdóttir and Beinir Troest, who will be performing at BSG later this winter. Steintór helped write many of Kular Røtur’s 57 songs, including the widely known “Hon er omma mín”, “Kingoson”, “Bilurin hjá okkum”, “Karin” and “Um tú hittir jólamannin”.

Steintór has also written songs for organisations including Amnesty International Faroe Islands, Blue Cross, Save the Children, Gigni, MEGD, the Red Cross, Dáan and many others. He was also one of the founders of Studio Pegasus and, later, the highly regarded annual Summer Festival, which is now the largest music festival in the Faroe Islands.

Steintór is already a landmark figure in Faroese musical history, and this concert can therefore truly be said to live up to the Summer Festival’s famous slogan: “Where the hits meet.”

This is an intimate living-room concert with seating at tables. Each table seats four people, so it is important to book together if you would like to sit together. The small kitchen will be open, serving light bites, while Fjósið will offer a selection of fine wines and other refreshments.

The doors open at 7:00 p.m., allowing you time to find your seats and purchase something to enjoy before the music begins at 8:00 p.m.

The concert is supported by Økistónar.
