VETRARJAZZ 2025 – Katrina Petersen Quintet

Katrina Petersen – A day with musical diversity

Katrina Petersen invites the audience to a concert where the music crosses borders and genres merge. With a strong band by her side, Katrina creates a unique soundscape that mixes all the music she has cultivated and been inspired by over the years, be it both folk
music and jazz to the singer-songwriter's personal expression – Katrina’s musical universe is diverse and authentic, carried through by her clear and strong voice, always at the center and binding the different musical elements together.

Katrina grew up in Copenhagen with a Danish father and Faroese mother, and the North Atlantic roots are clearly reflected in her music, which is often melancholic and at times rooted in the power of folk music. Her debut album “Colourless Day” came out in 2009 – produced by Mikael Blak and mixed by Jónas Bloch.

Katrina studied jazz at the renowned Fridhems Folkhögskola in Sweden, and later she trained as a singer at the Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium in Copenhagen. Over the past two decades, she has immersed herself in folk songs from both the Nordics and the Balkans in the vocal group Vokalselskabet GLAS, with whom she has released 4 CDs.

Katrina Petersen (vocals), Gorm Bülow Karrebæk (piano), Morten Ankarfeldt (bass), Sal Dibba (percussion), Haim Peskoff (drums)
