Biskupstøðgarður
Reconstructed house of Faroese hero Nólsoyar Páll and heroine Marin Malena.
In 2019, Biskupstøðgarður opened its doors.
The house is a fusion of the new and the old. It is built in the traditional Faroese way, featuring a charming smoke room (roykstova), weaving room (vevstova), glass room (glasstova), kitchen, and hayloft. The interior is furnished in an old style, including furniture from the early 1800s. At the same time, the house also offers modern amenities such as underfloor heating, electricity, internet, sound system, and a modern kitchen.
The house radiates storytelling. The couple Páll and Marin Malena were pioneers in the Faroe Islands and dared to dream big during the stagnant monopoly trade era in the late 1700s and early 1800s.
Today, the house is home to Marin Malena’s Teahouse, MICE activities, group experiences, high-end experiences, and private rentals.
The original boathouse (neyst) and the drying shed (hjallur) belonging to Biskupstøðgarður are also located in the area.
