In the small central park of Fuglafjørður, you will find a unique memorial, honouring the women around the world who gave their life giving life.

It is the Faroese ceramic artist, Guðrið Poulsen from Leirlist, who created the memorial, which was erected in December 2023.

Luckily, maternal death is not a big problem anymore, but the contribution of these mothers to the life of communities all around the world is something we must all be grateful for.
