Selatrað
From Thingstead to Scout Centre
Selatrað is a peaceful village on the west coast of Eysturoy. Historically, it was the Thingsite for the spring assembly, with gallows for those convicted here. You may still find the Thing stone and the base of the gallows.
Today, Selatrað is a popular family destination because of the 1913 plantation, a river basin, and a secluded beach. These surroundings also make it perfect for the Scout Centre and its assemblies and activities.
From Selatrað, there are two hiking trails: to Skála and Skálafjørður. Follow the river to explore Eysturoyarsyllin, a spectacular basalt sill visible above the village.
