Exhibition with various Faroese and Nordic artists

The day before 'Ólavsøka', on July 27th, a new exhibition called LIKE THE GOLDEN SUN ASCENDING opens, with a reception at 4PM in Steinprent. The artists count several Faroese and Nordic artists, among others Hansina Iversen, Claus Carstensen, Jóhan Martin Christiansen, Randi Samsonsen, Tóroddur Poulsen, Hanni Bjartalíð.
Kinna Poulsen, who has just released a new book on contemporary art in the Faroe Islands, has curated the exhibition. Despite the contemporary art in our time being complex and diverse, light and darkness continues to be significant phenomenons in a country where the experience of the dark winter and bright summer is intense and vernacular; the greater the understanding of darkness, the greater the need for light, and the thin ray of sunshine that peeks into the childhood room at bedtime, becomes all the more important.
