Sára Malena from Skúvoy lived in the 19th century and is one of the best-known women in Faroese folklore. She was accused of practicing witchcraft and was therefore feared, mocked, and ostracized by the people around her. Many stories have been told about her, and she is often referred to as “the last witch in the Faroe Islands.” Author Sólrun Michelsen wrote the novel Sára Malena, which is based on her life and the many stories that continue to surround her.
