Alvi Joensen will perform at Ribarhús, 10th june, 7:30pm

Alvi Joensen is a versatile guitarist, composer, and musician with a particular dedication to contemporary music.

For his graduation concert, he commissioned Distant Fires, a guitar concerto by Swedish composer Staffan Storm, which was premiered with Musica Vitae and percussionist Johan Bridger.

Alvi Joensen’s debut album is titled Lost Gems and was released in 2021. On this recording, he revives works that are rarely performed and were at risk of being forgotten.

In addition, Alvi Joensen has founded and led chamber music ensembles, especially HAV, which has commissioned numerous new works from Nordic composers on themes of nature and the environment.

At the concert in Fuglafjørður Church, Alvi Joensen will premiere a guitar sonata he has composed himself, as well as perform a work from 2007 by Sunleif Rasmussen and a work from 2022 by Finnur Karlsson (Iceland).
