During Jóansøka, the book Far West to Eiðið will be launched at a special book event at Biskupskelda.

Óli Holm has written the book about the first 100 years of Vágs Bóltfelag. Throughout a lifetime marked by a deep interest in everything connected to sports at Eiðið, Óli Holm has collected meeting records, kept diaries, and gathered photographs and stories that are undoubtedly valuable treasures of the club’s history, now preserved in print.

In Far vestur á Eiðið, Óli Holm brings together some of his findings. Readers will discover stories about major achievements in the village, memorable victories, unique recollections, and the many remarkable moments that only sport can create.

Spanning more than 300 pages, Far vestur á Eiðið will be published on Friday during Jóansøka 2026.

Everyone is warmly invited to the book launch at Biskupskelda on Friday, 19 June, at 3:30 p.m.

Óli Holm will read excerpts from the book, and Robert McBirnie will perform a selection of songs.

After the event, as tradition dictates, everyone will head west to Eiðið for the local derby between FC Suðuroy and TB.
