Helge Engelbrecht and Neighbours & Friends on Tour in the Faroe Islands

Helge Engelbrecht and the summer music orchestra Neighbours & Friends from Mariehaven in Ansager are heading to the Faroe Islands this autumn for a concert tour.

“We are really looking forward to it,” says Helge Engelbrecht. “We have chosen to call the concert Fagre Blomst, referring, of course, to the song we will perform in both Danish and Faroese when we arrive with our large summer music orchestra. We will also be joined by Hallur, Jessica Joensen and Jákup Zachariassen.”

Since 2009, Neighbours & Friends has attracted thousands of guests every year to the popular summer concerts held in the garden of Helge Engelbrecht’s home in the small Danish town of Ansager.

Now, the orchestra is heading to the Faroe Islands, and joining them on the tour will be a close friend of both the orchestra and Mariehaven, Hallur Joensen.

Hallur is an outstanding singer and guitarist and an important figure on the Faroese country music scene. For many years, he has performed on stages both in the Faroe Islands and abroad, working with renowned artists such as the Bellamy Brothers, Kris Kristofferson and Charley Pride.

But Hallur will not be travelling alone. He will be joined by his daughter, Jessica Joensen.

Jessica has been singing alongside her father for several years and has a strong and beautiful voice that she has developed and truly made her own.

The audience will also have the opportunity to experience Faroese songwriter and steel guitarist Jákup Zachariassen, who will add his distinctive touch to the orchestra’s sound, bringing an exciting new colour to the music.

As always, Helge Engelbrecht will use his characteristic warmth and presence to guide the audience through a programme filled with memorable musical experiences.

It will be a concert filled with great music, love, togetherness and plenty of joy.
