A Creative Reading Session for School-Age Children

The last axolotl in the pond is doing very well. The good life is spending time with tiger salamanders, collecting treasures, and spying on the clumsy two-legged creatures on the shore. But it gets warmer and warmer, the pond becomes murkier, and unfamiliar fish move in. Everything changes.
The Nordic Book Eater (Den Nordiske Bogsluger) moves into Lítlahús this weekend with a story that is especially relevant this week, as the Municipality of Tórshavn celebrates Environment Week: Together for a Green Future.
Children are welcome to join a creative workshop and reading session, where we will, among other things, talk about pollution in the sea and the environment in general. Materials will also be available to create our very own unique creature. We can give it a name, characteristics, and more.
The event is best suited for children aged 7–10.
The team behind the reading session includes Eilen Anthoniussen, editor and coordinator of Føroyar lesa. Krista Hvannastein will read the stories. She is a trained pedagogue with extensive experience as a storyteller for children. Henny Dánialsdóttir is an advisor in crafts and art at Námi and has extensive experience with creative activities for children.
The reading is based on the book My Life at the Bottom, a hopeful and existential story about climate change. It is written by Linda Bondenstam, a Finland-Swedish author and picture book creator.
With the Lítlahús event series, the Nordic House takes a new step towards making art and culture more accessible to children. The aim is for children to feel at home and experience art on their own terms.
