Jazz quintet, with members from the Faroe Islands, Norway and UK

Come and hear WAKO + Alex Ridout play at the Art Museum í Sandur on October 27th!

This autumn, the Norwegian/Faroese jazz quartet Wako is going on tour with award-winning UK born trumpeter Alexandra Ridout. Together, they form a hard-hitting quintet that evokes the sound of Blue Note records from the 1950s and ’60s, as well as Nordic jazz in the vein of Jan Garbarek and Masqualero.

At the front of the stage, Alexandra and Martin Myhre Olsen (saxophone) weave lines that make your ears dance. In the middle, Kjetil Mulelid (piano) conjures up hypnotic, contrapuntal figures, while in the background, the driving and tightly interlocked rhythm section features Simon Albertsen on drums and Bárður Poulsen on bass.
