Summer concert in Fuglafjørður with the Faroese symphony orchestra

On Saturday 27 June at 20, the Faroese Symphony Orchestra and Fuglafjordur Culture House welcome you to a unique summer concert!

It will be a less formal and lighter version with the audience seated in an intimate environment with tables, where they may enjoy a cup of coffee or other beverage.

This will be an intimate and relaxed musical experience, where the audience is closer to the musicians than usual. Around 25 string players make up the orchestra for this project.

Light – but demanding – programme:
The programme features a diverse selection of shorter works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, George Gershwin, Edward Elgar, Caroline Shaw, and Astor Piazzolla.

“We have aimed to create a light concert with shorter, yet great and musically demanding works,” says conductor Catherine Larsen-Maguire.

A special highlight will be the beautiful piece Andante cantabile by Tchaikovsky, featuring Kristina á Váli as soloist.

International ambitions
The symphony orchestra is developing fast. In 2024, the orchestra played to a full house at the DR Koncerthuset, and work is now underway for a major concert tour to Germany and Denmark in 2028.

The goal of such a concert tour is to promote and elevate Faroese music, and to give the musicians the opportunity to play in the best concert halls in the world.
