RAPPELLING

Rappelling (or abseiling) in the Faroe Islands is about as dramatic as it gets. Picture yourself gently lowering down a rugged basalt cliff, with panoramic ocean views, seabirds gliding nearby, and the sound of waves echoing below. It’s a unique way to explore the dramatic coastline and hidden spots you’d never see from above.

Whether you’re descending a scenic sea cliff, a quiet gorge, or even alongside a waterfall, rappelling here is about enjoying the ride as much as the destination. It’s safe, controlled by some of our local experts, and—once you take that first step—surprisingly peaceful.

Tips & Tricks

When to Go – Spring to autumn (April–September) offers the best conditions. Summer brings mild weather, while autumn adds extra drama to the scenery.

Always go with a trained tour provider – This one is mandatory! Safety is number one.

Check your gear – A harness, helmet, and sturdy rope are must-haves.

Dress wisely – Layers are your friend; the weather can change fast.

Mind the birds – Puffins and guillemots nest in cliffs. Give them space.

Trust the rope – Once you lean back, it’s all about enjoying the descent.

Know the terrain – Wet rocks can be slippery, so move carefully.

Respect nature – The cliffs are home to wildlife, so tread lightly.

Enjoy the view – It’s not every day you get this kind of perspective.
