Dorimus
a chamber choir concert
Since 1993, Kammerkoret Dorimus has presented well-prepared concerts marked by presence and great musicality. The experienced singers perform 6–8 concerts each year, primarily in Aalborg and the surrounding region of Northern Jutland, where the choir is based.
The choir’s repertoire spans a wide range of classical choral music — including early music, Romantic works, and contemporary compositions — and their concerts combine classical pieces with well-known seasonal songs and hymns.
The choir has been conducted throughout the years by Doris Kjærgaard, who is an organist and choir director at Jetsmark Kirke. After earning her postgraduate degree from the music conservatory, Doris Kjærgaard continued her studies in conducting with, among others, Morten Schuldt Jensen in Freiburg, Tone Bianca Dahl in Oslo, and in vocal studies with Annette Bo Nielsen in Nørre Sundby.
The choir has premiered several works written especially for them, including Kjerlighedens Gjerninger with texts by Søren Kierkegaard and music by Jakob Lorentzen, as well as Tre Davidssalmer for blandet kor og harpe by Christian Præstholm.
At this concert, audiences will hear the new work by Ólavur Jøkladal titled Kyrie eleison. The piece was written in January this year and commissioned by the Felagið Føroysk Tónaskøld. It will now receive its world premiere as a six-part a cappella choral work.
