Mikkeller Beer Festival Faroe Islands(MBCFI): The Mikkeller Beer Festival (one of only three worldwide) is held here in our hood of The Faroe Islands on October 17 - 18th! MBCFI isn't just about beer; it's an experience for both locals and beer enthusiasts. Set against the stunning backdrop of Torshavn, the festival will feature 30 international breweries from Europe, the USA, and, of course, the Faroe Islands.

TIPS FROM AN ISLANDER

  1. The Fall Festival: Join the precious & most hillbilly'esque village festival of all, Heystfagnaður. Happening in the cosy village, Eiði, up in the north on Eysturoy Island on the 15th - 20th of October.  
  2. Deep breaths: Find peace of mind by igniting and elevating your creative spirit through local traditions. Pick up a paintbrush and craft a coffee mug or create your ideal earrings, immerse yourself in outdoor painting lessons, dabble in the art of nature printing or welcome the morning mist with a serene yoga practice. 
  3. Grab your knits: Become even more faroese by knitting your very own sweater. Join a local knitting club and learn. If all else fails, you could just buy a woollen piece in one of the many secondhand shops, no one will be able to tell the difference. 
  4.  Get lost & confused: Let go of that pre-decided itinerary and strive to capture those mandatory insta-worthy shots. As sometimes these "strange" islands may surprise you and bring out that spontaneous inner child. That's what Swedish journalist, Lola, did.

FAROESE WEATHER IN OCTOBER

Temperatures in October range from 6 to 11 degrees Celsius (43 to 52 degrees Fahrenheit), and the weather can be quite changeable. Prepare for a mix of brisk winds, occasional rain, and stunning sunny spells that illuminate the dramatic scenery. Be sure to pack your waterproofs and warm layers to fully enjoy the outdoor delights! In October the Faroe Islands has up to 10 hours of daylight, with sunrise at around 8.00 AM and sunset at 6.00 PM.
