Menopause and Wellbeing
How to navigate perimenopause and menopausal years
Menopause can be a challenging time in life for many women—the levels of important hormones in the body decrease, which can affect life physically and mentally.
During this period, many women feel inferior and limited, struggling with melancholy and experiencing feelings of shame and anxiety. Insomnia, severe hot flashes, headaches, joint pain, and more can occur. Many women find that almost everything related to normal life is suddenly taken from them: motivation, skills, and energy. If one is not careful, this can drain one's joy in life.
The purpose of the lecture is to give you the necessary insight into menopause, its impact, and life changes, but also into all the good that accompanies this transition in life. The focus will be on well-being during menopause, both mentally and physically so that instead of perceiving menopause negatively, you learn to embrace this experience as a step further along life's path and as an opportunity to renew yourself and develop personally.
The lecture touches on the importance of:
A healthy lifestyle and attitude
Physical health, exercise, physical training, rest, and sleep
Proper diet, vitamins, and supplements
Building new thought patterns and habits
How you mentally perceive and care for yourself during this time and gain the necessary control over your mind
Seeking medical help if necessary and informing yourself about medical options
Developing a positive attitude towards menopause and seeing this time as a rich period with a purpose
The lecture provides knowledge and inspiration to take the right steps, enabling you to find the right course and navigate safely through this period of life.
Shamila Johannesen is hosting the event. She is a trained nurse and life coach, specializing in neuroscience, psychology, health, and nutrition. Currently, she advises individuals and groups on personal development.
The lecture is in English, but Shamila understands Faroese.
